- Two opposite corners are used; the other two stay empty.
- Every shared track square is a possible confrontation, so safe squares matter far more.
- Keeping a pair of tokens stacked on a star square is a real defence, not just a bonus.
Simple tactics that work
Open one token early and keep it moving instead of opening all four. A token close to its home column is worth more than a fast token in the middle of the track, because one capture sends it all the way back to the base. When your opponent is about to land on you, moving into a safe square is usually better than running forward.
